Be not dismayed …

…whate’er betide; God will take care of you… playing on the radio caught my attention this morning.  Immediately I was transported back in time (circa 60s) to a little hillside in the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

A classmate’s younger sister had died suddenly from an acute illness.  Touched by their sorrow, I attended the funeral service and ultimately the burial in the Memorial Park.  As I walked to my vehicle at the end of the graveside service, I paused at the top of the hill to look back one more time and felt such an overwhelming sympathy for those having to leave someone they loved behind in the cold grave.

It was then that I became aware of the music from the Cemetery Tower Bells ringing out the beautiful melody …

Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you;
beneath his wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.

Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
when dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.

All you may need he will provide,
God will take care of you;
nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.

No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
lean, weary one, upon his breast,
God will take care of you.

God will take care of you,
through every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

And one more time, I heard a whisper in the night! It may be dark, and the heavens may be brass but hang around – He will show up to remind you of past whispers.
